New Year Safety: Fireworks or Torotot

Fireworks

Making noise and lighting up the sky is a normal part of tradition in the celebration of New Years in the Philippines. Fireworks are used for cultural and religious purposes. It is said that fireworks are made to scare away evil spirits.

Fireworks have been used for years now and hundreds of people are caught in accidents. People get burns and blasts on eyes, hands, feet and other parts of the body. Experts say that the leading cause of these injuries are banned fireworks - Piccolo, Five Star and Pla-pla.

So, how can we lessen these injuries and casualties? A new and safer trend has been started nowadays.
Why use more money to make noises using fireworks when you can use a Torotot!

Kids using Torotots
Torotot, or party horn is a horn formed from a paper tube which when blown, makes a horn-liked noise.
I find torotots more convenient than Fireworks because: 1. You can save more money. Why use hundreds or thousands on fireworks when you can use torotots for a very cheap price. 2. They do the same thing. Even though torotots have no light effects, they can still make a lot of noise. 3. Safe. Who can get injured in blowing a horn? and 4. They're really fun.
